What is Your Intention Today?

When he had removed him, he made David their king. In his testimony about him he said, ‘I have found David, son of Jesse, to be a man after my heart, who will carry out all my wishes. (Acts 13:22)

A few days back, God guided me to ponder upon the character of David, especially in terms of the knowledge he had of God. I observed how much sound theology, he had as David wrote numerous Psalms.

From my childhood, I like the character of David, especially his fight with Goliath. It could have been really an enjoyable moment for David to celebrate this great victory over the defeat of killing such a big giant, but the whole story depicts that David’s intention was to glorify God, not himself.

It was really an honor for David that God called him a man “after his own heart” to fulfill his will (Samuel 13:14). David and Saul's characters had a variety of contrasts. Saul was a man-made king with, a man-centric mind and a self-fame character, while David was a God-made king, a Theo-centric mind, and a God-glorifying character.

The human-centric mind cannot glorify God, and Saul was exactly the category of this kind, his intentions were to gain fame in the sight of the people of Israel. On the other hand, David, the God-centric mind’s intention was to glorify God and carry out all His wishes.

What an honor we have to praise Jesus and fulfill His will in our lives, but unfortunately today, our problem is the same, we love to be praised by the people around us. Self-praising attitude always leads us astray to remain unaware of the will of God. David’s real joy was to praise God with all his heart and fulfill His desires by all means and this was the reason people loved David more than Saul.

Do you want people to love you today? Give all the glory to God and know His will in your life. The Bible declares that all the believers of the Old and New Testament had given all the glory to the name of God.

Heavenly Father, we are very happy that we may serve and honor you. Help us, wherever we live, and whatever we do that may glorify your name, so that at every step of our life we may adore you, in the name of Jesus we ask. Amen
