Chosen by the Lord: A Treasured People Set Apart

Small But Victorious: Trusting in Christ's Power

For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be His people, His treasured possession. Deuteronomy 7:6

What an incredible promise! What is the source of our strength in a world where there are many bills and expenses to pay? Does our little money enough to pay them all? Absolutely! The Gospel reveals that amidst our financial challenges, Christ transforms our trials into magnificent triumphs. He emerges as the unexpected fount of our resilience, converting adversity into victory! He is the unforeseen source of our strength!

We are reminded of Israel's journey to the Promised Land by Moses' guidance in Deuteronomy. Israel triumphed while traveling through the wilderness thanking God's covenant love. God met the needs of the Israelites in the wilderness by providing for them. Also, the small offering of five loaves and two fish multiplied into an abundant feast, fulfilling a similar promise in John 6:9.

Today, as a Church family, we might feel discouraged by societal evils—struggles with morality, brokenness, and moral decay. However, in the face of this darkness, we stand as a chosen people, God's treasured possession, a message reaffirmed in Deuteronomy 7:6. What a hope we have as God's precious people!!

Christ on the cross, as the ultimate conqueror, prevailed against all challenges and secured a resounding victory over the forces of sin and death (Romans 8:37).

Being the Church today, we are empowered to overcome these evil powers, bearing witness to Christ's victory. Just as a little amount of money cannot suppress the potential that resides within us, similarly, our physical size does not impose limitations on the immense power of God that is present within us.

Heavenly Father, amidst life's challenges, we place our trust in Your power amidst this difficult time. Just as You guided Israel and provided them all in their needs, multiplied the loaves and fish. We lift up our eyes towards You, give us strength to overcome the evil of this world — strengthening communities being small in numbers, to win victory by sharing Your love with others in need. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
