Guide children, lifelong values bloom

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Last Sunday, my father-in-law's frail voice beckoned me, his need for prayer and comfort undeniable. Daily, on my office-bound journey, prayers and aid are offered. This journey reminds me that God empowers us, like nurturing a child's path, even in our later years. As we care for our elders, we sow seeds of faith, following the path of Proverbs 22:6, nurturing hearts across generations. Parents in the Bible hold a profound place, reflecting the divine love and care that God bestows upon His children. Just as God loves and nurtures us, parents embody this love, guiding their children with compassion and dedication.

From the Old Testament, we find examples like Abraham, who exhibited unwavering faith and obedience to God (Genesis 22:2), and Hannah, whose fervent prayers for a child were answered with Samuel, a prophet of great significance (1 Samuel 1:20). In the New Testament, Mary's incredible role as the mother of Jesus demonstrates humility, obedience, and sacrificial love (Luke 1:38).

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the beautiful gift of parents, who reflect Your love and care. May our parents find inspiration in the examples of faith from the Bible. Bless families with wisdom and love, and may the church continue to support and guide parents as they raise their children to honor You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
