Jesus' Imminent Arrival - Are You Ready?

He who testifies to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon.' Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. Revelation 22:20

As we go about our daily lives, it's easy to become entangled in the busyness of the world, losing sight of the profound truth that Jesus is coming soon. We can see in Matthew 24:44 that His return will be sudden and unexpected. It's crucial, then, to ask ourselves: Are we truly ready for the imminent arrival of our Lord and Savior? Jesus promises His return, declaring, "I am coming soon." As we ponder these words, let us pause and reflect on our readiness for the momentous day when our Savior will return.

Are we all set for when Jesus comes back? And are we, as followers of Christ, shining like a bright light to inspire and assist others in getting ready too? Let's see what the Bible says about these important questions.

One of the most powerful stories that exemplifies the urgency of readiness can be found in the parable of the faithful and wise servant in Matthew 24:45-51. In this parable, Jesus tells of a servant who is entrusted with the master's household but becomes wicked, thinking that the master's return is delayed. When the master returns unexpectedly, he finds the servant unprepared, with severe consequences.

The Bible consistently teaches us to be watchful and prepared for Jesus's return. It reminds us that no one knows the day or hour of His coming (Matthew 24:36). To prepare ourselves, we must cultivate a life of faith, love, and righteousness, living as children of the light (1 Thessalonians 5:5-8).

As believers, we are called to be beacons of light in a dark world. Encouraging others to prepare for Jesus's return is our divine mission. By living out our faith authentically, we prepare ourselves and inspire those around us to seek readiness.

The parable of the faithful and wise servant teaches us to remain vigilant in our faith journey, never assuming that Christ's return is distant. We should actively work on our own spiritual readiness, seeking a deep and unwavering relationship with Jesus. We must fulfill our role as witnessing, encouraging and assisting others to prepare their hearts for Christ's glorious return.

Heavenly Father, we stand before You, mindful of Your promise that Jesus is coming soon. May our hearts be ever ready to receive Him. Help us prepare ourselves daily, filling our lives with faith, love, and righteousness. Lord, grant us the wisdom and compassion to be beacons of light, guiding others toward readiness for Your glorious return. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
