Becoming Fearless Soldiers in God's Armor

Becoming Fearless Soldiers in God's Armor

Put on the armor of God, so that you can stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:11

The book of Ephesians 6:11 tells us to wear the "armor of God" just like a soldier wears armor for protection. This spiritual armor consists of faith, truth, righteousness, peace, salvation, and God's Word (Ephesians 6:13-17). When we have these, we're ready to resist the devil's tricks and temptations. It's like having a shield against lies, doubts, and sin. This verse encourages us to stay physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually prepared, relying on God's strength to face life's challenges.

Think about soldiers getting ready with their armor to stay safe. God does something similar for us, giving us spiritual armor to handle life's difficulties. Now, consider this: what kind of soldiers are we in God's team?

Let’s consider some questions and explore answers from the Bible;

Who are the earthly soldiers? Earthly soldiers are strong individuals with weapons, defending their nations.

What kind of soldier does God want us to be? God's soldiers rely on a unique kind of armor - faith, truth, righteousness, peace, salvation, and His Word (Ephesians 6:13-17) to stand against spiritual battles. This armor helps us in spiritual battles.

Now, let's explore a powerful story from the Bible. In Daniel chapter 3, we meet Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They bravely refused to worship a false god and were thrown into a fiery furnace. Miraculously, due to their unwavering faith, God protected them. This story teaches us the incredible strength of trusting in God, even during life's most challenging trials.

The Bible reminds us that our battle isn't with people but with spiritual forces. To face this battle, we need God's armor, which includes faith, truth, righteousness, peace, salvation, and His Word. When we trust in these, we become strong against any challenge. Remember, in life's battles, our true strength comes from God's armor. It begins with keeping the Word of God (belt) so that it can protect your heart (breastplate to protect your heart), shoes help you to advance on the battlefield. These weapons help to construct us to advance in the battles so that we can face any challenges. It makes our life adventurous rather than being frightened/frustrating to face any challenge. The work of a shield (faith) while advancing in the battle helps to protect you from the tricks of the devils. In other words, keeping the Word, protecting your heart, and advancing in the battle helps you to firm in faith and the Bible says it is a shield to stop the arrows of the devil (Ephesians 6:16) the second last armor comes the helmet to protect your thoughts to deeply immerse in the Word of God which is the sword (Rhema: this is for the particular moment) to fight every fight.

The believers are like special soldiers for God. They fight with the power of prayer and God's words. Picture it as a protective circle, just like a boy in a remote tribe. He's scared, but his dad protects him. Similarly, as God's children, we have special protection. We don't need to be afraid. God gives us strength, love, and a clear mind. Instead of focusing on the world's chaos, we should need to focus on Jesus.

Just like Jesus trusted God's plan when He was on the cross, we should also trust God's plan when life gets hard. God is always with us, showing us the right path.

The things Jesus teaches us, our prayers, and what we learn from God's Word, they all give us strength to deal with our everyday problems. It's really important to teach these things to our children, so they can be strong with Jesus and handle the difficulties they face.

Let's pray. Dear Lord, help us put on Your spiritual armor daily, standing strong in our faith. May we trust Your plan, just as Jesus did on the cross. Guide us and our children in our daily battles. Amen.
