Our hands open towards God and His people

All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Acts 2:44-47

Have you ever experienced that a baby holds your finger? When a baby holds your finger, it grips it so tightly and won't let you go.

This experience leads us to reflect the Bible, wherein believers gathered together in a room, praying and waiting for the fulfillment of the Lord's promise before the Holy Spirit was poured out. After Pentecost, something amazing happened in the lives of the believers. They became the helping hands by selling their belongings, and supported their fellow believers, holding hands tightly that cared for one another. Please keep in mind this was not the barter system where people used to exchange their things for getting something in return. Rather the believers' goal was to ensure that no one was left in poverty within the community of believers (Acts 4:34). They hold one another hands, forgiving and accepting one another as God's children.

The Psalmist describes this in this way: God freely gives and walks with us, satisfying the desires of every living thing (Psalm 145:16). Jesus fed a multitude of people looking up to heaven (Luke 9:26). He walked into towns and villages, healing every disease and illness (Matthew 4). Lastly, on His death, Jesus stretched out His arms on the Cross and showed us His love for us all.

We should always be thankful and have our hands open towards God and His people. Let's pray to God, asking Him to use our hands and feet to reach out to others in need.
